Extra-High-Strength Concrete Mixes for Complex Structural Elements

Adjacent to the Kirya complex in Tel Aviv, two 42-story towers rise, comprising a total of 412 residential units. The project also includes a nine-story office and retail complex spanning approximately 40,000 sq m, an inner courtyard with an ecological pool, and five levels of underground parking.

One of the project’s most distinctive features, located in the heart of a dense and active urban area, is a suspended swimming pool supported by a concrete-beam bridge that connects the two towers. This complex element posed a significant engineering challenge in terms of load-bearing capacity, deflection control, and execution accuracy.

The structural design required the use of exceptionally high-strength concrete that meets European standards and is capable of addressing highly complex structural elements. At the peak of construction, approximately 80 concrete mixers arrived on site daily, enabling the casting of more than 92,000 cu m of C70/85 concrete.

The project demonstrates the synergy between ambitious, high-end architecture and advanced engineering solutions that turn vision into reality. The distinctive residential complex also earned Ashtrom a prestigious excellence award for outstanding planning and execution.
